Squid's Cancer Treatment

My name is Ariana and just last month I graduated from veterinary school. My greatest sidekick throughout this entire journey has been my dog Squid. Those who have met him know him as the kind of dog that is always over the moon to see you walk into our home, with a tail so happy he could quite literally bruise your shins. Squid is a beam of light and embodies unconditional love in the purest sense. Being his person has been the greatest blessing to my life in so many ways.

In the most devastating timing, Squid has just been diagnosed with lymphoma - a cancer associated with white blood cells and the lymphatic system. His is atypical, with pulmonary (lung) involvement. Squid has enlarged lymph nodes, both under his chin and in his chest, with multiple tumors invading his lungs. The oncologist we are working with has said this is the second time in her career that she has seen a patient with lymphoma have lung masses. Untreated, his prognosis is less than 3 months. With chemotherapy, around 80% of dogs with lymphoma go into remission.

As you can imagine, the necessary diagnostics and treatment for him are very overwhelming in cost. On top of the insurmountable debt I have graduated with, Squid and I recently moved across the country, which was a large financial endeavor in itself. I simply do not have the means to go about this on my own. I am asking for help with some of Squid's veterinary care so I can give him the treatment he needs.

As I write this (6/15/23), Squid is in good spirits. He is eating and drinking well, but has some labored breathing at times. My goal with chemotherapy is to improve his quality of life and allow Squid the opportunity to have a comfortable, joyous, and beautiful conclusion to his journey in this life. Something he very much so deserves.
