Virtual London Marathon carrying 26.2kg

Donation protected
Hello everyone

I will be running/walking the virtual London marathon (virtual meaning a location of my choice) on the 3rd of October. I say walking being I will be carrying 26.2KG on my back (1kg for every mile), I have already ran a marathon so in order to gain maximum donations I need to push myself harder . I will be raising money for 2 charities, and any donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Alf Rewin Conservation Fund

Set in his memory, the Alf Rewin Conservation Fund is a scholarship programme which supports young conservationists in their educational development, while at the same time ensuring all the work is guided by good science, safeguarding the long term protection of this critically endangered species.

Alf went to Africa initially on a field trip while studying for his Science Foundation Degree Wildlife and Conservation at Kingston University 'Merritts Wood'. It was the first year of this brand-new course at the 77,000 acre Mabula reserve. During the trip he was asked to stay on as an intern studying the Hornbills which he did for some months before returning to the UK following a foot injury. Sadly, he took his own life in November 2018 and the 'ARC' conservation trust has been set up to raise £60,000 to fund more local interns in studying and protecting the Hornbills.

This charismatic species is both culturally and ecologically important. They are hailed across their sub-Saharan range as the thunder birds or rain birds and as many of the artists picked up on, they are easily recognisable with a colourful face and huge eyelashes. Their populations continue to decline towards being "Critically Endangered" so the project provides important work not only through protection, but educating local communities on their importance and value to the environment and culture.

Alf was awarded his Degree posthumously by Kingston University in 2020.

Head up UK - Forming a positive baseline

I am also raising money for Head up UK in order to help them become a step closer in building something amazing, something that will provide mental health support for U.K military personnel and veterans by 'establishing an armed forces charity retreat where members of the Army, RAF and Navy – past and present – can receive a person-centered and holistic mental health provision'. “Forming a Positive Baseline”
