On the 29th of August 11 years ago, Rebecca Conroy was born with a congenital heart disease called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Over the course of her life she's endured multiple surgeries and treatments to help her live with her condition but ultimately she will need to recieve a transplant.
Last Wednesday, she had a pace maker and valve put in to delay her heart transplant and while the surgery was successful, she went into cardiac arrest later that night. She is in very serious condition and is fighting every day to recover. Now Rebecca and her family are waiting to see how she recovers from the cardiac arrest and the operation. If she doesn't recover as we hope, she will need a heart transplant.
As you can imagine, the medical and other expenses as a result of this treatment are only increasing and we've decided to start collecting donations for Rebecca and her family so her parents can focus on caring for their child as she goes through this difficult time.
Rebecca is a spunky and determined 7th grader who is full of life and always smiling. She lives in Poughquag with her two loving parents, Amy and Brian, and brothers Matthew and Sean. Her family's focus should be on caring for Rebecca not worrying whether they can afford her care.
