Hi everyone,

I’m Kristina, Wolf’s “dog mum”

Our world has been turned upside down with some difficult news about our beloved Wolf. After being diagnosed with lymphoma at only 3 years old, things have escalated quickly, and today we are so lucky to have been booked into an Oncologist appointment at Melbourne Animal Referral Services and he has been taken under Dr Irena’s wing. We had to take immediate action to save him. Without intervention, Wolf’s health would have spiraled rapidly, but we’ve been able to get him the critical care he needs so far.

Wolf is currently undergoing testing to determine if the cancer is leukaemia or lymphoma (to identify where it originated), and he’s already started his first round of chemotherapy. The costs for today alone are a minimum of $3500, with ongoing weekly chemotherapy treatments estimated at approximately $900 per session. The first round may cost as much as $1200 to get him into the treatment plan. The treatment plan is for a minimum of 6 months at this stage.

Wolf is staying overnight at Hospital as he needs some fluids to help him rehydrate.

We are heartened by the fact that the treatment gives Wolf an approximate 70% success rate—a chance for him to return to his happy, energetic self. The treatment will help him feel better and resolve many of his current symptoms, but it’s crucial to see if he responds well to the chemo. The reality is that even with successful treatment, the cancer may return in the future, but we are hopeful that we’ll have more time with him. After this initial phase, it will become a matter of maintaining and managing his condition.

Wolf means everything to us (and his brother Chief) and while we are grateful to have pet insurance, it doesn’t cover all of the costs we’re facing now and in the months to come. This is not an easy ask, as we never imagined we’d be in this position, but we’re turning to the kindness of our community to help us give Wolf the best fighting chance possible.

We worked out to achieve our goal, we need 910 people to donate $22. However, any contribution, no matter the size, will help us continue his treatments and ensure he gets the care he deserves. Even if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this post would mean the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time. Wolf is a fighter, and with your help, we’re determined to give him the best possible chance.

Thank you for your time in reading all this.

We will update everyone as much as we can and you can also watch updates on Instagram: @chiefandwolf

Thank you for your time.

Lots of Love
Kristina, Blaize, Chief & Wolf x
