Eddie’s kidney transplant
Donation protected
My brother Eddie has always been the life of the party. He is a kind and caring family oriented man that is always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile on his face and the peacemaker in any situation just like our father Jose who recently passed away.
Being an avid fisherman, he is eagerly willing to teach others to fish and share his love for the ocean, a trait he learned from our dad, Jose.
In 2020, Eddie was diagnosed with advanced kidney failure and in 2021 he received the news that he would need a kidney transplant in order to survive.
The diagnosis was frightening, to say the least, but Eddie braved through many months of dialysis, procedure after procedure and he made many necessary changes to his lifestyle. He was determined to find a donor and live the best life he could for his family.
After finally getting moved up the transplant list, he reached out to many friends and family members in hopes that one of them would matched as a donor.
What seemed to take an eternity finally came to pass; on August 14, 2023 the call came in. Eddie had a matched donor!!
Things moved quickly after that; on August 16, 2023, the transplant was performed and was a complete success!
Eddie is so very grateful for this second chance opportunity he has been given and feels blessed to see how things have worked out for his benefit.
He’s not out of the woods yet, however. There is still a long road ahead with doctor visits, monitoring and new medications, adjusting to a new life that may bring some restrictions with work etc.
Currently, he will need to stay close to his medical team at Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles, which means he will be away from home.
While his health insurance covers most of these expenses, it will not cover them all such as accommodations and travel expenses for him to be close to his doctors during this critical time.
I ask that you please consider donating towards Eddie’s financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated, every little bit helps.
All funds raised will go directly to paying Eddie’s medical costs and related accommodation and travel expenses.
On behalf of Eddie and the entire Camarena family, I appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers you have all shown over the last couple years.
We are truly blessed.
