Help me fund my trans surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Arya, and I'm asking for your help. I have attempted to save for my own surgery for years now, as the alternative is not getting at at all. The standard of NHS gender-affirming healthcare is in shambles, with waiting lists for your first appointment being 15+ for some people due to years of cutbacks and policy changes.
I have been waiting many years for my first appointment for gender-affirming healthcare, and the GIC (gender identity clinic) stopped seeing new patients in 2018, and have only started seeing them again recently, so if I continued to wait on the NHS, it could take decades to get it.
While I have raised some funds already (for a surgery costing 22k), the rising cost of living, increase in taxes and some difficult life circumstances are preventing me from saving the remaining amount required.
I am also living in a part of the UK that is very backwards and dangerous for trans people where I have been attacked and had my life threatened many times in the past few years. As much as I want to move somewhere more friendly, doing so without securing the funds for surgery would put it in jeopardy.
I need this to be me and to be free of the crippling gender dysphoria that affects my day to day living. I understand that times are tough, but please give what you can.
