Sirius is a Staysail Schooner launched in 1935. She is the first Australian built yacht to sail around the World and the fist circumnavigation by Australian yachtsmen, Harold Nossiter and his two sons, Harold and Dick. Sirius is now languishing in a boatyard in Phuket where the caretaker has failed to pay the fees for the last year. She is stripped out inside and has some damage to the topside planks which needs to be repaired. We need help to save this i important piece of Australia’s maritime history. The National Maritime Museum can’t help so we are asking you to help. First we need to pay off the shipyard arrears, about $10,000 and then pay carpenters and shipwrights to replace some damaged planks. Please donate to get Sirius shipshape once again so we can return to her native Australia.
