Hi, my name is Aminah Wachsman. I figured I should put this out there in hopes of getting some help. My kitty, Ophelia, who is 7 years old, has to undergo emergency surgery. The vet found stones in her kidney and urethra. Her kidney levels are very high and life-threatening. She hasn’t been doing well for the past three days.
With expenses and everything, we’re looking at roughly well over $8,000—possibly even $10,000. Anything and everything is appreciated. All donations will be going directly toward vet bills. Please pray for Ophie, and thank you so much.

Update
Her condition isn’t looking too good. They do have her stabilized with fluids and other medications. As of right now, the vet is giving an estimate of $15,000 per kidney. That is only one of the options—we’re still waiting to hear back on other estimates. There are risks with surgery either way, but without it, she will not make it.
Please share this story. It would absolutely help my family and me cover the expenses—and most importantly, save Ophie’s life. Thank you to those who have shared and donated. It truly means the world to us and our fur baby.

Another update:
Ophelia’s kidney levels have increased—not by a lot, but they have. They did an X-ray and, I believe, an ultrasound to see if she passed the stones on her own. Unfortunately, the stones did not pass, so she will be needing surgery. She is stable right now, which is good.
The surgery they’re recommending involves placing tubes into her kidneys. This was the procedure they originally mentioned, which would have been $15,000 each, but now they’re saying it would be about $12,000 total, I think. However, there are always risks with surgery, and that’s what’s scaring me.
If she does get the tubes, they would be permanent for the rest of her life. We would have to drive an hour every three months I believe to have the tubes flushed, which costs $600 each time.
I will continue to update with all the information I can get! Thank you again!

Hopefully this will be my last update for a couple of weeks! We were able to move forward with the surgery. Ophelia received a subcutaneous ureteral bypass and is currently in recovery.
Our total expenses are around $20,000. I don’t expect this fundraiser to reach that amount, but anything and everything is so deeply appreciated. As I mentioned in my previous update, we will need to drive an hour each way every 3–6 months for her flushes, with each visit costing around $600.
At this time, I don’t have an update on when she will be coming home, but things are looking up from here.
