Megan's Miracle

Note from Marcus: Friends suggested that we setup a Go Fund Me account to assist with medical expenses. Megan and I can’t thank everyone enough for their support.

Megan is a 38yr old active mom of four (Mason (21), Mallory (13), Matthew (9), and Madelynne (6).

On July 20th, Megan went to the emergency room with chest pains. As the day continued, it was discovered that Megan had a heart attack that morning and was in need of additional medical care. Things escalated quickly and she was sent via medical helicopter to a second hospital for open heart surgery with triple bypass. Her medical team discovered that her heart needed additional support and care so she was flown by medical helicopter to Baylor Scott and Health White Heart Hospital that specializes in major heart failure. Her medical team provided life saving measures and treatments until she was able to undergo open heart surgery again on August 3rd for the placement of her LVAD (left ventricular assist device).

Since August 3rd, Megan has been recovering from surgery and participating in extensive rehab to adjust and learn how to embrace life with the LVAD. Her journey is far from over and her recovery will continue over the next several weeks at her current hospital, then on to a rehab hospital, and then ultimately continue recovery at home.

Luckily with friends, family, and the community that the Gonzales family is surrounded by, we know their family won’t be alone. Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help. Right now, we don’t know the full impact this medical crisis will have on the family but are fully aware that out of pocket medical expenses and other bills will be adding up.

If you know Megan, you know she loves a good competition. You know that she is a fighter and strong willed and absolutely ready to crush every goal the medical team puts in front of her.

This has been a very humbling experience for Marcus as he is actively the one extending help not receiving it. He has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support.

Marcus and Megan are deeply devoted to their family, their church, their work families, sports families, and their community of Celina. Megan loves the families she has been privileged to coach basketball. Megan and her family have touched so may throughout the community, and now it’s our turn to share the love to her family.
