GET GILLY TO NZ // +$> POWER TO BE
Ok friends, so here's the thing, my little art loving heart needs your help.
I have this amazing opportunity to attend a hand lettering workshop being put on by an artist— Gemma O'Brien— who I have a huge professional crush on. I won the tickets— yew! Definitely a once in a lifetime deal. The thing is... IT'S IN NEW ZEALAND! And as it's less than 2 weeks away, I can't pull the airfare together quite that fast on my own.
*** PLEASE DO NOT DONATE MORE THAN $20/ EACH ***
Sooo, this is where all you lovely folk could come in (if you like). I'll tell you right now, I DO NOT feel comfortable just askin for your hard earned dollars to get this girl's dream rollin'. So I have a plan. Yep, your $20 will help me get where I need to go, THEN it will help others get where they need to go. That's right, I will donate the full amount that I raise here to a local charity called POWER TO BE!
I've written up a contract, and signed it up real good. I also had my friend and Power To Be volunteer, Michael Milner act as a witness. So with Mike, and all of you as witnesses too, I hearby state that I will— no later than May 1st of 2016— donate the full $1500 I raise to Power To Be.
If you don't know who these guys are, let me tell ya:
Through what they call Adventure Therapy, they inspire youth and families in need of support to discover their limitless abilities through nature-based programs. People bound to a wheelchair are able to go hiking through our forests, or kayaking in our oceans— adventures often deemed impossible to those facing the struggles of a disability. Power To Be is also focused on helping disadvantaged youth in need of support. They provide a judgement-free environment where they can grow, foster healthy relationships, build confidence, create stability and build structure so that they have the tools to succeed in school, at home and in their communities. With the help of the great outdoors, they help people get where they need/want to go in life— a worthy cause!
Whatda ya think?
You'd be helping this kid out now, then helping out those lovely folks later.
Thanks friends! Love you the most.
