Hi everyone, my name is Kieran Akhtar and my passion is Olympic Freestyle Wrestling.  This is my fourth year in the sport and in that time I have been a 3 time City High School Champion, 2 time Provincial High School Champion, a Canada Games bronze medalist and  two time National Silver Medalist. My most recent achievement was winning the World Team Trials this month which earned me a spot on the Canada Wrestling National Team!

This is  what I have worked so hard all year for.  It is such a priviledge to be able to represent my Country in the sport I love.  I have received the calendar of International Assignments to prepare and qualify me for the World Championships at the end of the summer.  These great opportunities come with a great price tag. 

Unfortunately like most Canadian amateur sports, wrestling is experiencing a short fall in funding and my family's limited personal resources will be tested trying to make up for the financial shortcomings that I face. My dream of representing my country against the best in the world in my sport is about to come true, and with the support of generous and caring individuals like you, I know I can succeed.  This is why I seek your support. Donating to my cause is how you can help. 

No amount is too small as every donation will help me get me closer to qualifying and competing at the World Championships in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina.  I looked up the distance from my hometown Saskatoon and Sarajevo and the outbound and return distance is about 10000 miles.  One way you can think of it is that each dollar that you donate is like getting me one mile closer to Sarajevo.

I feel I have been blessed with a gift to compete in this great sport. Please help me find out just how far I can go.
