Spuddy’s Fight

For all who know Ken and Charlene Mutchler and family, this has been a very difficult year. Ken received the devastating news that every family fears, he was diagnosed with cancer of the bowel, bladder and prostate. He went through an aggressive regime of radiation and chemotherapy then finally underwent a radical 11 hour surgery on May 8, 2023 at the Health Science Centre. They expected the recovery process would be long and difficult but were not prepared for what occurred next. On May 29th Ken was admitted to Brandon ICU where they were informed he had clots in his lungs and had suffered a heart attack. He was sent to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg for further assessment. As of now family wait to hear if stents are a possibility or if Ken will require open heart surgery once strong enough.

As all of you know, the expense on families when their loved ones are receiving care outside of their home community are immense with travel, accommodations, meals etc. The recovery process will be long for Ken. Having family and friends close by truly helps. However, this means continuing trips back and forth to Winnipeg.

Contributions will assist the Mutchler family as they continue to support Ken on his cancer and cardiac recovery.
