“Faith, Trust, and a Whole Lotta Fight”

Our family’s world turned upside down when my little sister Kelsey went to the ER recently for what we all thought were just stubborn cold symptoms. None of us could have imagined how quickly everything would change. After a whirlwind of tests and hospital stays, we got the news that still doesn’t feel real: Kelsey has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), specifically the FLT3 mutation — an aggressive form that requires intense treatment and close monitoring.

Kelsey is only 29 years old, but she’s already one of the strongest and kindest souls you’ll ever meet. She’s a sweet daughter, a loving sister, and the best aunt to six amazing kids who absolutely adore her. She’s the type of person who makes everyone laugh, remembers every birthday, and finds a way to see the good in every situation.

If you know Kelsey, you know how much she loves music. Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers are basically the soundtrack to her life. Even in the hospital, she’s been thinking about them and keeping her sense of humor. She says she’s got her “Faith, Trust, and a Whole Lotta Fight” ready to go, and that’s exactly what she’s bringing into this battle.

Kelsey has already started her chemotherapy. Because of the FLT3 mutation, her treatment plan will be especially rigorous — with intervenes chemo & a pill form as well and the potential for a stem cell transplant down the road. After this first round, they will do another bone marrow biopsy to see if another round is needed. The doctors are moving quickly, and she’s preparing for the long journey ahead with so much courage and positivity. She'll likely be recovering for a while.

This GoFundMe, Pixie Dust for Kelsey, is our way of helping lift some of the weight off her shoulders. It will help cover medical expenses, time away from work, and all the unexpected costs that come with treatment. More than anything, we want her to be able to focus on healing and staying strong, not the bills that come with being sick.
