Update on Sprinkles...

Hi, My name is Delina DiSanto. As many of you know, I am raising funds for my son, David DiSanto for his beloved Pomeranian, Sprinkles. The cost has been over $13,000 already and it has hit hard financially for my son. But our pets are family and Sprinkles is his companion and everything to him.

Here is the UPDATE...

David found an experienced Vet surgeon to perform a bowel resection for Sprinkles. During the operation, the portion of the ileum and the ileocecal valve had to be removed. It had significant damage and disease. This area is where the small and large intestine meet. The Vet also had to take biopsies to determine if it was cancerous. The Vet feels he removed all the damaged/diseased intestine.

Needless to say this procedure was very expensive and hit David financially and emotionally. But he could not sit back and watch his little 5 yr old buddy suffer.

Sprinkles is recouping. Resting in his bed, very lethargic and still frightened and shaky. He is in pain as you can see in this picture, but he is getting pain meds on schedule. Looking into his eyes, you can see he doesn't understand why he can't do what he does normally and that is running around and jumping into your arms. He may have diarrhea for the rest of his life due to this procedure and must take Vitamin B12 and other meds for the rest of his life. There have been many follow-up Vet visits and more to come.

We are praying, hoping, wishing he does not have cancer.

Sprinkles has been my son's companion, comfort and emotional support for over 5 years. We all love Sprinkles. He is usually full of love, fun and happiness, and we can't wait until he gets back to himself.

We will not stop to continue to get the care Sprinkles needs. It's not fair for any animal this young to be put down.
