Springtime, written by María Irene Fornés, is a story of queer love that highlights the challenges faced to receive adequate medical care in lower income communities. This production is a SUNY Purchase senior project, aiming to spread queer art, uplift queer artists, and highlight past and present queer perspectives all relevant to our modern day.
We are so excited to be putting up this production! This show is a self-funded labor of love. Our college does not provide funds for these projects, and we are proud to be an entirely student-produced show. That being said, we are looking to raise around $1,000-$1,200 to go towards our set, props, and period-accurate costuming as well as sanitation and safety supplies such as facemasks for our cast and crew.
There will be extremely limited seating as we are proud to follow COVID guidelines, prioritizing faculty members as well as SUNY Purchase students. We are hoping to raise enough money to acquire rights to a filmed production of Springtime. If that goal is reached, all donors will receive a digital copy or link to our show.
It is extremely important to us that we are conscious of the spread of COVID-19, especially given the rates that it disproportionately affects lower-income communities. In addition to following CDC and school guidelines and taking the steps to make our show digitally accessible, all proceeds made outside of what is required to produce our show will go towards COVID relief programs.
