I’m creating this fundraiser for my friend, and mentor Josh Springsdorf and his family. Josh has been one of the most positive influences I’ve ever had in my life, and walking example of resiliency. No matter what life has dealt him, he always has a smile and positive outlook - regardless of the severity of the situation. Josh currently serves in the military, and his wife Cheryl recently started her own business, monogramming everything from cups, to shirts. To say their story has been hard, is an understatement. Josh met Cheryl back in October 2017 and after dating for a short time, they married in June of 2019. Cheryl and Josh have 5 children, ranging from ages 9 to 1. They learned they were pregnant in April 2019 with a beautiful baby girl. Abigail was born on November 8th 2019, and has been a fighter since she came into this world. Abigail was born with Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, and is completely blind. Since birth, she’s undergone brain surgery in February 2020, along with countless other set backs. All the while, the Springsdorf family has remained positive, and hard working, ensuring all those around them are taken care of. On top of caring for all 5 of their children, they also house and care for Josh’s handicap brother. Recently, Cheryl was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease. There is no known cure for this disease, and Cheryl begins dialysis on November 6th.
This family has remained strong, regardless of the adversity they face. Just last week, I saw and spoke with Cheryl about Abigail’s new wheelchair. She stopped mid conversation to tell Josh and I, to make sure Abigail knows she isn’t confined to that chair, and to focus on walking one day. That is true resilience, if I’ve ever seen it. Given all the troubles she is facing, her priorities are still with her children, and others.
A few friends and I are hoping to raise enough money to send this wonderful family on a nice family vacation this year, without the trouble of wondering how to pay for it. I hope you can find it in you to donate just a little, and share this fundraiser.
