Dawgs Helping Dawgs!! We are Springfield Strong for Pamela de la Llave!
A very dear friend and colleague of ours, who is also a teacher in the Springfield Public Schools District and Coach for JDHS’ softball and volleyball teams, can use our assistance.
A 4th grade teacher at Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School, Pamela de la Llave had her first child, a beautiful little girl, named Liliana, on September 28, 2019. Pam was home on FMLA (maternity leave) enjoying every second with her precious daughter. Shortly after her return from maternity leave, the pandemic hit and closed our schools on March 16, 2020.
Teaching remotely and learning the ins and outs of motherhood all in the midst of a pandemic is unfathomable to anyone; However, learning the news she and her family did shortly thereafter puts a whole new perspective on everything. Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer. This news was not something the young wife and new mother was expecting to hear. Regardless of what was happening in the world, she needed to continue to stay home to take care of herself, her daughter, and her family. She underwent surgery in hopes that the cancer would be gone. Unfortunately doctors found it had spread. Pam began chemotherapy treatments as soon as she was able to.
Although she would like to, given the current condition of her health, she cannot return to school right now. The allotted amount of sick days and state supports have run out. She should be home, getting the treatment she requires, caring for herself and her family and not having to worry about finances.
Our request is for you to find it within your hearts to help our friend, our colleague, our family member, our own Dawg to do what has to be done for her health, wellbeing, and family.
Any donation will be so appreciated, and hugely impact the life of one of our own.
Thank you,
Friends, TLS family, and colleagues of Pamela de la Llave
