Please Help Me Finish My Degree at UNCG

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Fox and I'm in my first year as transfer student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have no family support towards my college education after losing both of my parents over the past 4 years. Starting college early as a 15 year old also used up most of the publicly funded student financial aid I'm eligible for before I realized it, because as a first generation college student I didn't have any guidance on how financial aid worked as a young teenager. UNC Greensboro now wants me to raise $6,334.50 to stay enrolled through spring semester, because the combination of financial aid used to help me pay for fall semester is no longer available, and the financial aid that I will be eligible to apply for as a "current student" opens up during spring semester to help students like me pay for next school year, not this one.

My educational goal at UNCG is to obtain a bachelor's in Pre-Law, most likely double majoring in Business, so that I can then attend graduate school for a law degree. With that, I hope to pursue new roles in my advocacy and political work, which has previously included fighting against gerrymandering in court as a voter plaintiff, in a case that went before the U.S. Supreme Court earlier this year. Whether it's advocating for changes in, arguing the meaning of, writing, or interpretation of the law that I end up involved in, and most likely a mix of them over time, my hope is to become a greater force for positive change in our country throughout each role I serve in after graduation.

My GPA was 4.0 for the associates degree I transferred with from Guilford Technical Community College, I currently have a 4.0 so far at UNCG, am in the departmental honors program, serve as a UNCG Student Senator, volunteer for a local nonprofit animal rescue organization, and my "expected family contribution" is $0 just for reference, so you would think I might qualify for some type of financial aid. However, being a transfer student who originally started attending community college early at the age of 15 and finished two Associates degrees before transferring to UNCG has proven to make me ineligible for a lot of the grants and scholarships students might normally use (i.e. Pell Grants, etc.) to help get themselves through their first year here, at which point we all then become eligible to apply for various departmental, honors, and other scholarships during spring semester to keep us going through the next school year.

So, getting over this hurdle of paying tuition, fees, etc. for my first Spring semester at UNCG is what will test my ability to finish my degree here versus being forced to transfer again in search of an affordable option to finish my bachelor's degree studies elsewhere. I can utilize a monthly payment plan, if I can raise at least $1,623.63 by early January before spring semester starts, and then figure out a way to pay the remainder over the course of the semester.

That's why now I am asking for your donations to help me stay enrolled through this spring semester at UNCG, at which point I will either get some scholarships to continue my next school year here, or else I'll start looking into my other options so I'm not left with the student loans I've already taken out to get this far and no bachelor's degree.

Please donate what you can to help me finish my degree, and thank you for reading my story!
