This January, my sister and I are taking our annual trip in honor of our sweet mom, who passed away two years ago. Her birthday is coming up, and she would be turning 56.

This year, our trip will take us to the Dominican Republic, and during our stay we will be visiting a local orphanage that is home to 98 children, from babies all the way to teens.

We’ll be spending a few days unwinding and having fun away from our own littles (moms, you get it!) but we also felt called to use this trip to love on little ones while we’re there. 

With 8 kids between the two of us, we cannot imagine our own children navigating life without parents. Visiting this orphanage — and seeing the strength and resilience of these 98 little ones — makes us even more determined to show up with love, support, and resources in honor of our mom.

We’ll be bringing as many supplies as we can fit in our suitcases —

…and anything else these kids truly need.

Many friends and family have asked how they can help us honor our mom this year. So we decided to create this GoFundMe as a way for anyone who wants to give a “birthday gift” in her memory to do so.

Every dollar donated will go directly toward:

• Purchasing needed supplies for the orphanage

• Buying additional items locally once we arrive

• Helping ensure each child receives something meaningful

We know she would be so proud to see kindness spreading in her name.
