Spreading Art and Love in Brooklyn!

Hi everyone! As part of Upworthy’s Kindness Fund , I’m raising money for Summertime Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, a 501c3 non-profit which creates an art world where artists with and without intellectual disabilities create and display work alongside one another. They strive to revolutionize the art world by breaking down the barriers that have made “outsiders” out of artists with disabilities.

The mission of this fundraiser is to sponsor two artists with intellectual disabilities to attend Summertime’s studio program, where they have the space, materials, and freedom to expand their creative skills and build an art portfolio. This would cover 20 three-hour art sessions per artist, at $2,000 per artist.

I am setting the goal at $4,000 to hopefully sponsor two artists. If we fulfill that goal, I will raise it to $6,000 and Summertime will add a third artist with disabilities.

About Summertime Gallery:

Founded in May of 2019, Summertime is a nonprofit 501c3 Art Studio and Gallery located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Summertime connects neurodiverse artists with the people and world around them, providing a platform to tell their stories, show their work and make money. The studio provides the space and freedom to create, materials and mentorship whereas Summertime’s gallery offers an opportunity for exhibition and promotion.
