Spread your wings for Ewing’s
Hello friends
If you could please share this page far and wide to help Gemma raise funds for this next chapter in her life - the final chapter.
Gem has stopped working to travel and live life, whilst she can. Her and her partner have received extremely bad news in terms of Gemma’s cancer prognosis going forward:
Gemma has metastatic recurrent terminal cancer - a super rare form of sarcoma called Ewing’s that she has been fighting for the past 5 years. She has now exhausted all surgical and radiation options, and is on the final chemotherapy option that is currently available. After this option Gemma has the option of starting Clinical Trials (if there are any available) in immunotherapy - some of which are out-of-pocket and quite expensive options.
Gemma's current chemo regime is not curative treatment - it is designed to give Gemma as much time as possible by holding back the growth of her tumours, which are extremely aggressive. She has recently been told to start preparing for the end, in other words to prepare for the worst and hope for the best - to take time now to travel and do things whilst she can.
Gemma’s life expectancy is estimated to be extremely short (patients have anywhere between 6 months and 2 years at this point). The pair would like to tick off as many things on their bucket list, whilst they have the chance and whilst Gemma is well enough.
Any donations no matter how small will be immensely appreciated. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Gemma fulfil some of her dreams whilst she can, and give her "wings" during her Ewing’s fight.
Gemma has soldiered on since May 2015, via:
- Surgeries - VATS procedure & a Radio-frequency Ablation
- Chemo Cycles - 49 in total (thus far) | 5 different treatments
- Radiation - 30 rounds (6 weeks worth) + booster
Regards,
