Help Spread the Pawpaw Fruit Love!

Hello, my name is Seren Petrichor and I planted my first Pawpaw tree in 2012. My family and I have fallen completely in love with this amazing, unique, and rare fruit. Pawpaws are my passion and I hope you will help grow more of them!

Pawpaw is super nutritious, very hardy, tastes wonderful, and it can be grown in most of the United States! It is actually native from northern Florida all the way to Canada. The Pawpaw tree is quite ancient and was originally distributed in neat, well fertilized bunches by woolly mammoths. These days, it is up to us humans to spread the seeds and care for them. Many thanks to the Native peoples of this land that stewarded the trees after the Woolly Mamoths. I have no doubt that the best varieties of Pawpaws are direct descendants of their care. Here in our area, I specifically thank the Cherokee - Tsalagi nation.

You may have heard the song "Way down Yonder in the Pawpaw patch" or heard of it in the Bear Necessities song in the old Jungle Book movie. But when I say Pawpaw, I am referring to Asimina triloba. Also known as Indiana banana, custard apple, and many other names.

Pawpaw fruit tastes like banana, mango, pineapple, vanilla and can be used in many recipes. My favorites are ice-cream, mead, or even just blending the fruit with coconut cream and serving it chilled.

I have been upscaling every year in order to grow more and more trees. I have sold out, donated, and planted all my trees every year. I receive many, many requests for fruit... but so far I've only had enough fruit to share with family and close friends. I sincerely look forward to the days when we will have enough fruit to share with all of You!

In 2023 I distributed over a thousand Pawpaw trees. I released six new desirable varieties as scion wood and grafted trees. I also shared six varieties from other Pawpaw breeders. And of course, spread Pawpaw knowledge to anyone who cared to listen, including teaching classes at the Firefly Gathering.

2024 has started off quite wonderfully with getting around 1300 Pawpaw seeds planted. That's all the seeds we harvested, purchased, or had donated (thanks). I am now preparing for scion harvest season and distribution. Once it warms up enough this spring, I will be potting up baby trees and shipping out older Pawpaw trees all over the country.

My sincere wish is to bring the Pawpaw tree back to popularity. I want all of our grandchildren and their descendants to know this wonderful fruit. I need help for this dream to come true!

When You support this campaign by donating or sharing this link, I will be able to invest in growing more Pawpaw trees and spreading even more Pawpaw knowledge.

I am in need of funding on many fronts. A dependable greenhouse, creating a Pawpaw care website, wages for helping hands, soil and pots, seeds, new scions, and hopefully soon - more land to grow and breed new Pawpaw varieties on! I have just about used up the available space on the land we caretake here in Western North Carolina. I have planted over a hundred Pawpaw trees here and need more space!

Thank You for considering, taking the time to learn about the Pawpaw tree, and Happy Growing!!
