Help Julio Tot Share Mayan Wisdom

Hi, my name is JoAnne, and I represent a group of friends who have come together to fundraise on behalf of Julio Tot, a Mayan spiritual guide who lives in Guatemala.

When the global pandemic came and the world went quiet, so much felt uncertain. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, came an extraordinary opportunity. We were invited to learn about the ancient Mayan spiritual system as taught by Julio who, we learned was a very gifted teacher.

And so began a remarkable journey.

We have been changed by what we have learned, deeply moved by the depth of the wisdom, by its relevance to both our individual lives and the modern world.

And Julio has changed as well. For the past 30 years, Julio has made his living as a tour guide, leading visitors to sacred sites such as Tikal and El Mirador. While this has been rewarding, it has now become clear that it is time for Julio to transition to the work that is closest to his heart: sharing the teachings from the heart of Maya with the world. It is obvious to anyone who knows Julio that teaching, performing ceremonies and healing is Julio's truest work. Julio is a true spiritual guide.

For this to happen, Julio needs a dedicated space for teaching--a space that provides peace, quiet and shelter from frequent rain; a space with a roof, a floor, plumbing, electricity and reliable internet. A sanctuary where sacred energy feels at home and protected.

With support from a generous supporter, work has already begun. As you can see in this video, the shell of the structure is built, but more work is still needed to bring it to completion.

Still needed are: windows, doors, floor (el piso), ceiling, plumbing (toilet, shower & lavatory), electricity, plastering and air conditioning. The estimated cost for completion is $3500 USD.

When completed, the building will serve multiple purposes: office, classroom, healing space and even guest quarters for visitors on a spiritual quest.
