As most of you know, the Barbers have stumbled into a hard time. Zack was severely burned at work where he was transported to the Augusta Burn Center. There, he received treatment and underwent surgery to debride the burns and start the healing process. This process will be a long road for them, requiring visits back and forth to GA. They are unsure at this time how long Zack will be out of work, but he is in extreme pain and has limited mobility. As most of us know, Zack has worked in petroleum for over 20 years, but he’s also the Zack of all trades, which means much of their family's income comes from his side business and entertainment. Zack is an amazing DJ and has spent a lot of his time entertaining this community, playing for birthdays, weddings, and one of their best, the charity event they host to give back while giving people a place to have fun doing it. Honestly, seeing Zack this way has been heartbreaking to watch as he has been dedicated to his easy-going, love-all ways. Zack has spent the past 5 years building and tearing down a haunted house in his own backyard free of charge to give people something fun and free to do. He spends weeks hanging Christmas lights for people to enjoy. The Santa box for kids to have a little magic, and during the busy season, Kristen is running back and forth to the post office, sending each child a letter back and stressing over them making it before the big morning. It’s nothing for Kristen to offer someone a free tan or product just to make them feel good. Being her best friend, I have watched all of this transpire and been a part of these journeys with them. I know firsthand they do this from the bottom of their heart. Sometimes I call them crazy, but who doesn’t love the crazy Barbers? Many of you have reached out to me asking what you can do for them. Zack and Kristen do face stressors of losing a large part of their income in the months to come due to Zack being out of work and experiencing extreme pain in the healing process. I have fought with Kristen for 4 days about doing this because she truly hates to take from anyone or put them out when they will just figure out a way. I’ve decided as her best friend to take a little less stress off of her and offer a way for others to help that have expressed wanting to. I know this will be hard on them, but I also know what they are going through is even harder. From the bottom of my family’s heart and especially theirs, we appreciate any donation and the calls, thoughts, prayers, and help they have received this week.
