Hello! My name is Taylor, and it is with great excitement (and anxiety) that I'm reaching out to ask you for help!
For those who don't know me, I am a doggo parent, a student affairs educator, a fiance, and a friend based in Waltham, MA (just outside of Boston). I have spent the better part of, say....24 years in a wild journey of self-discovery that has been filled with quite a bit of lonely and isolating challenges, and yet so many beautiful opportunities for self-love and resilience. It is through this journey, and a lot of trial and error, that I have come to a deeply-rooted understanding of who I am and why I'm here. I am continuously learning how to accept the things that I cannot change and change the things that I can. This is where you come in...
I am excited (and nervous) to announce that I have been actively pursuing a top surgery date for the upcoming summer. I have found a surgeon that I trust, appreciate, and feel will do a good job. In this surgery, my breasts will be removed and I will be left with a flat chest. For me, this surgery is helping me work towards a body that I will finally feel at home in and that will better align with my cognitive understanding of myself. I am a genderqueer person, which means that I don't identify as woman or even entirely as man, and I use they/them/theirs pronouns.
For many, this is not new information and may not come as a surprise after coming out publicly this past October. And for others, this may be news to you! This is something I have thought about deeply and thoroughly, with the help of family, friends, and healthcare professionals. Getting this surgery will allow me to live as my full self, and is a decision that I do not take lightly. By getting top surgery, I will be able to freely move through the world and be seen as the person I am. I am excited to play sports, go swimming, and dress in ways that better support my gender identity once the surgery is complete. For all intents and purposes, I will be free.
Given that I started testosterone treatment in November, this is one of the last steps I need to take to feel like my true self. After this surgery over the summer, I am looking forward to living the rest of my life in a way that I have yet to be afforded, and I am beyond thrilled.
If you have the means, and are able to donate to this cause, I would be forever grateful to partner with you on this journey. While insurance will be covering some of the costs, there are peripheral costs that are not covered by insurance, that this money will go towards. Thank you so much in advance for any and all support you are able to offer.
It takes a village. Thank you for being a part of mine.
Love always,
Taylor Sprague
