Help Javier the "Deported Artist" Access Water and Rebuild His Life.
Javier Salazar Rojas—known online as Deported Artist—is a gifted painter, a compassionate animal rescuer, and a former California firefighter. He’s also a father, a husband, and a man fighting to survive in exile.
Javier has been helping/advocating for separated families, deported veterans, stray animals, worked at migrant shelters, helped homeless people with addictions but this time he needs help.
Javier was brought to the U.S. as a baby and raised in Oakland. He grew up not knowing he was undocumented—until the age of 11. Despite the odds, he chose to serve. He completed three fire seasons with Cal Fire, battling wildfires across California.
Javier was deported and is now living in Tijuana, separated from his wife Joanna and their children, trying to survive in harsh and worsening conditions.
---
His Situation Has Become Dire.
Javier’s building is on unstable ground. The earth is shifting, and nearby buildings have already been condemned. In response, the city shut off water to prevent further landslide risks. Officials say it could be 6–8 months before water is restored—if ever.
There is no running water in Javier’s home.
Water trucks can’t reach his street, which is now closed to heavy vehicles.
He has no working car, so he walks long distances every day hauling water in buckets and jugs.
Buying water in small quantities this way is much more expensive than bulk delivery.
He needs water to cook, clean, bathe, wash laundry, and care for six rescued dogs.
He now has to carry loads of laundry to another neighborhood just to stay clean.
What began as a campaign to buy a water pump has become a plea for help with basic daily survival.

No Tiene Agua Corriente
Cuida a seis perros rescatados.
