Sunset Park Puerto Rican Day Parade
Donation protected

This celebration of Puerto Rican culture will feature live music, arts, and the Afro-Puerto Rican traditions of Bomba y Plena as well as the participation of artists, local businesses, car & motorcycle clubs, and various community organizations within the Sunset Park, Brooklyn community.
Sunset Park Puerto Rican Parade and Festival, will begin on 5th Avenue and 59th street at 5pm on June 14th, 2015. We will then make our way on 5th ave to end on 43rd Street. We will then make our way into Sunset Park for the Festival which will be from 7:30pm to 9pm.
As with any parade, there is a cost to properly produce it. We need community financial support to make this a success. Our vision is to create a Puerto Rican carnaval with percussions , vejigantes for a joyous celebration. Unlike the National Puerto Rican Day Parade which has become commercial, we are organizing Sunset Parks parade to be a traditional one. The way processions were originally done by our pueblos.
So far we have the committment of various artists that will provide the traditional sounds of Puerto Rico, but as a community we must support our artists, especially those that have always supported our community. We are seeking to raise funds to pay for musicians as well as cover the cost for a stage and sound equipment rental, promotional material, insurance, and a private ambulance to make sure everyone is safe during our festivities.
If we do this right this first year, you better believe this will become an annual event.
