Spotlight Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease
I turn 50 on March 4 and to celebrate I’m throwing a big party (on March 8). I’m so excited about seeing my friends and family together in one place.
You will know - as I have been very open about it - I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease on 1st December 2021 at the age of 46. It came as a big shock to me and at first I didn’t know where to turn.
This charity Spotlight (& Parkinson’s UK) helped me find my way. I became a member of their private online community on Facebook and was able to connect with other people like me who found themselves diagnosed with PD under the age of 50. I’ve met new friends and together we have found strength to move forward together as positively as possible.
Our group is growing in numbers (alas) with diagnosis rates on the increase (2 people an hour in the UK are diagnosed with PD) and this demonstrates how important it is for this charity to receive funds to educate and support people like us who find themselves living with a neurological condition with no cure.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and support shown to me these last few years in your capacity as either an old friend, new friend, family member, work mate, former work mate or neighbour.
I hope you enjoy the party.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Spotlight YOPD (Registered charity) and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
