Sponsorship for eSports Team Varsity High School

Hello, Facebook Friends!?! I'm raising funds to help students at a public charter school in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, form and compete as an eSports team this school year. Students expressed their passion and interest in starting an eSports team at this school last year, and they have been blessed to begin this exciting adventure this school year. Esports (or electronic sports) is a state-sanctioned extracurricular activity that is rapidly growing in K-12 education as a means of developing science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) and social-emotional skills while increasing student engagement and opportunities for student inclusion. According to Pew Research, 90% of youths (ages 13-17) play video games in 2018. The ratio is 97% among boys of that age. Another factor to consider is that pupils who are interested in esports are more likely to be high achievers and to be interested in high-paying, STEM subjects that employers respect. As a CTE educator, this is really important to me because I want to think of innovative ways to engage students today in order to prepare them for career opportunities in their near future. Last year only, eSports generated approximately $2 billion.

The $3000 raised will fund an eSports competition for all students at this institution, as well as a professional eSports coach for practice and training. The platforms on which these students will compete are called Playvs and Vanta. The season begins on September 26, 2022, and this campaign will purchase an unrestricted competition license so that every high school student at this charter school can potentially compete on the national stage for their favorite games. League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rocket League, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Hearthstone, Madden NFL, NBA 2k23, Chess, and Fortnite are among the competitive games for eSports this Fall.
