Who We Are
Hi, I’m Liam Spurgeon, and with the help of Gavin Wheeler, I am organizing this event on behalf of Stuart Smith—a local man and good friend who is fighting stage 4 cancer.

About Stu and Why We're Fundraising.
Stu Smith, known as “Burb” to many, has been battling Stage 4 Melanoma since 2019. After years of surgeries, drug therapies, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy, Stu's cancer has spread to multiple organs, including his brain. Despite numerous setbacks, he has fought with determination and positivity. Now, his only remaining treatment option is a promising new therapy called TIL (Tumour-Infiltrating Lymphocyte) treatment, available only in the United States and now in Israel. This one-time, intensive therapy offers real hope—but comes at a significant cost. With no remaining options through the NHS, we're raising funds to give Stu a fighting chance and access to life-extending treatment abroad. Every donation helps and brings us closer to that goal.
Stu has been fundraising for this urgent treatment and thanks to the amazing support from the community and his close friends and family, he’s raised £119,000 so far. But his target is £165,000, and we need one final push to get there.

The Challenge
On Sunday, 27th July, a group of riders will take on a 12-hour endurance cycle at Northern Gateway, Colchester, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The 1-mile circuit will be ridden non-stop for 12 hours. At least two riders will always be on the track, with others rotating throughout the day. We’re aiming to complete 150+ laps and reach many more miles as a team.
️Rain or shine—we’re riding for Stu.
We embarked on a charity ride for Colchester Hospital charity back in 2015 and rode from Colchester to Lands end over 5 days and raised £12,657.00.

How You Can Help
You can sponsor us in two simple ways:
• Per-lap sponsorship – Pledge an amount for each lap we complete as a group
• One-off donation – Give any amount you can. Every penny makes a difference.
Even if you’ve already supported Stu’s fundraiser—thank you! But if you’re able to give again or share this event, we’d be so grateful.
All money raised will be transferred to Stu's fund after the event. ________________________________________

Northern Gateway, Colchester
We’re incredibly grateful to Northern Gateway for generously providing free use of the track for the entire 12-hour event. This kind gesture has allowed us to focus all fundraising efforts directly on helping Stu, and has given our riders a top-class facility to complete this challenge.
