Sponsored Bike Ride - for Quakers in Europe

I am raising funds for the Quaker Council for European Affairs NGO in Brussels. QCEA do valuable diplomatic work, migrant and refugee support, peace, security and conflict resolution in Europe and its borders. QCEA provide a strong link between Britain and Europe, located in the district housing the EU headquarters and EU parliament.

The cycle ride will commence from Friends House (British Quakers) in Euston Road, London via Eurostar to Rotterdam and then to the Quaker Meeting House in The Hague, Netherlands. The ride wil take place between Saturday 5 October and Monday 7 October 2024. Total distance by train is 317 km plus the bike ride to The Hague being 35km.

The ride coincides with the annual World Quaker Day on Sunday 6 October and Quaker Week from Saturday 28 September and ending on Sunday 6 October.

What will the money raised go to support?
Quakers in Europe undertake valuable, quiet diplomacy working with the EU and member states to put forward non violent solutions to security and refugee issues across the region. They also work to mitigate the effects of climate change adhering to Quaker principles of stewardship of the planet. I am asking QCEA to allocate funds raised to support their work with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.

Anything you can give (minimum of 5 GBP) on this platform will go towards funding this valuable and life affirming work.

All funders will receive updates documenting my trip along with more detailed information on the work Quakers are undertaking internationally to support those caught up in war, conflict and human rights abuses, including Quaker work with the United Nations in Geneva and New York.
