When I hear and see firsthand of a disabled military veteran looking to better himself, I can't help but support and cheer them on.

 

Meet Sgt Christopher Smalley. Chris served our country as a United States Marine for 8 years.

 

While serving in Afganistan, Chris and his convoy were impacted by an IED, killing many of his fellow Marines. Although Chris survived, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, it can be just as hard to have had survived and even thrive.

 

Rather than letting the TBI, PTSD and anxiety rule his life, Chris has found his love for golf and joined the VGA (Veteran's Golf Association). VGA mainly plays on the weekends but Chris goes to local golf courses to fine tune his skills during the week. Ultimately he would love to be successful enough to make it onto the PGA as a disable Veteran. (He is pretty good having shot four hole in ones last season).

 

Chris is planning and preparing to play in 25 VGA tournaments throughout Michigan this year. I would LOVE to see an outpour of support to fund his golf season with the VGA. I've crunched the numbers with Chris and it's coming out to around $9,000 total. We want to be 100% transparent so we are providing a breakdown of those expenses.

$700 Golf membership to Otsego Club. This is an immediate need as if would provide unlimited use of the driving range and course.

$425 Registration Fees for each tournament. This is also an immediate need as tournaments get booked quickly.

$1875 Green Fees for day of VGA tournaments. On average $75 per event.

$2500 Accomdations during tournaments. 25 events x $100 per night hotel stay.

$3125 Gas for travel. $125x25 events.

We're $8,625 already and we still need...

Equipment(golf apparel, golf balls, tees, shoes...)

...and meals, protein bars and Powerades.
