Sponsor Safe and Successful Girls in College

Sponsor First Generation College-Bound Girls in Being Smart, Safe, and Successful in College and Life With an 8 S' Empowerment System; Phenomenally U

Greetings Great People! My name is Lacey C. Clark! I am a first-generation college graduate and a Founders Scholar from New York University. Upon entering college, I learned that I needed so much preparation that I didn’t have because neither my parents nor I had any concept of the social and emotional education required for a healthy college transition. This personal challenging experience has led me to create an empowerment system to fill this void.

For the past 20 years, I have helped educate young women and girls worldwide to learn to practice self-love, develop high self-esteem and become empowered to make more intelligent choices. This has been done through books, events, speaking engagements and presentations. This fundraiser is to make the Phenomenally U 8 S’ Empowerment System available to first-generation college-bound girls free of cost.

Challenges Young Women Face in College

Challenges faced by first-generation college teen girls: high rates of depression, binge drinking, drugs, sexual assault and abuse, suicide, distractions and many other issues must be met with the preparation that adequately prepares them to strive. Preparation is the key.

Sexual Assault /Misconduct

More than 50% of all sexual assaults occur on college campuses during the “Red Zone” (First 6 weeks of the first year).
“One in five college women report experiencing sexual assault, and these rates have been maintained for the past 50 years”. -Journal of Sex Research.
Binge drinking is another problem plaguing college women, making them more vulnerable to sexual assault. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in 2013, 59.4% of full-time college students ages 18-22 drank alcohol, which resulted in alcohol-related sexual assault or date rape.

Phenomenally U helps educate female students about their sexual surroundings and ways of avoiding sexual assault and its dire consequences.

Social Issues

A study from women's surveys - one conducted during their first year, the other at graduation - showed a drop in confidence despite reports of high academic achievement.- USA Today

Phenomenally U teaches young women how to develop healthy relationships and foster leadership while helping them navigate mean girls, the college social scene, parties, lovers, and sexuality.

Time Management

Psychologist William Knaus estimated that 90% of college students procrastinate. 25% of them develop a habit of putting things off, and many drop out of college.

Phenomenally U teaches young women how to balance their energy output and time management principles.

Depression and Anxiety

A survey of college students in the United States in 2021 found that around 41% had symptoms of depression - Statista.

Phenomenally U: 8 S’ Empowerment System teaches female students to be confident even when managing expectations and stringent timelines in a new environment.
