Help get Matilda to the UN Youth National Conference in July

My name is Matilda Mulholland, and I am a passionate and driven fifteen-year-old student currently attending high school in Brisbane. I am writing to request your support in helping me attend the upcoming 2025 UN Youth National Conference this July in Adelaide, South Australia.

The conference is an event that will bring together 80 young leaders from across the country to spend one week exploring the work of the United Nations in the space sector. We will also discuss the idea of governance in the context of space exploration, and engage in workshops on global issues, diplomacy, and sustainable development.

I am particularly excited about the Model United Nations debate, whereby we get to experience first-hand the intricacies of international relations and help decide on a motion for the council to adopt. This will be such an amazing experience.

The conference’s selection process recognises the brightest and most enthusiastic young people selected from a wide application pool from across every state and territory of Australia and New Zealand.

Being selected as one of 10 students from Queensland to attend this conference is an incredible opportunity for me to expand my understanding of international relations, develop my leadership skills, and connect with like-minded peers who are equally committed to making a positive impact on the world. This year I have also had the great opportunity to participate on the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Youth Advisory Council which has been a wonderful experience providing guidance and perspective to Council on what matters to the youth of Brisbane.

Although UN Youth works to keep attendance costs to a minimum, the total cost of participation is $1,650, which covers accommodation, meals, resources, and all conference activities.

As a student, this amount is a significant financial challenge. I am currently working hard to raise funds through personal savings and other avenues, but I am seeking sponsorship to help bridge the gap. Your contribution, however small, would be an invaluable investment in my growth as a young global citizen and future changemaker.

In return for your support, I would be more than happy to participate in any publicity for your organisation and I will make available a full report on my experience, outlining what I learned and how your support helped make it possible.

If I exceed my fundraising goal, I will be donating the remainder to other UN Youth Conference attendees to ensure disadvantaged students may also attend.
