My name is Gina and I have PTSD. In April of 2017, I stood outside the dingy gates of an Arkansas prison, the merciless sun beating down on me, as my friends and I rang a solemn bell signaling my biological father's looming death. I clung tightly to my dear friend and brother, Randy, as I cried tears of pain, anger, and sorrow knowing that my father was being murdered just feet from me. Soon, my other dear friend, Abe, came to me and quietly said, "It's done." He was dead. And thus, I had become the next victim of capital punishment.
I *need* to help stop this from happening to another daughter, son, mother, father, friend. It's a deep desire to do my part. But I need your help. This trip will cost money that I don't have.
I will be speaking at Capitol Hill to help END capital punishment.. A truly cruel and unusual punishment that needs to be abolished. My story could help change the world. Or at least, maybe change a heart or two.
Please help sponsor my trip to the 32nd Annual Fast & Vigil to End the Death Penalty in Washington D.C. (Details below.)
The money will be used for a flight and hotel stay, as well as food, transportation to + from the event, etc . Thank you so much for your help!
"WHAT IS THE FAST AND VIGIL? For four days, death penalty abolitionists from around the country will gather at the steps of the Supreme Court to call for an end to capital punishment in the United States. It is an energizing grassroots week of training, advocacy, action, community and education. Tens of thousands of tourists and locals, from all over the U.S. and throughout the world, pass by our vigil and table, so the opportunity for dialogue and discussion at a real grass-roots level is invaluable to the movement.
Additionally, each evening we hear stories from murder victim family members, death row exonerees, death row families and leaders in the national abolition movement."
