Urgent: Nahid Modaressi’s Life Is in Danger—We Need Your Help

Nahid Modaressi is a well-known human rights activist in the Woman Life Freedom movement, who has lived in Turkey with UNHCR refugee status since 2018. In 2023, Turkey inexplicably and unjustly revoked her status. In February 2025, Nahid found out that her final appeal was denied, with no more legal recourse, leaving her vulnerable to deportation back to Iran, where she faces torture, imprisonment, and possibly execution

Since the 2022 Mahsa Amini movement erupted, she has spoken out against the regime, advocating for fellow Iranians persecuted by the Islamic Republic. Her family was personally affected when her sister, Elham, was imprisoned for protesting.

Nahid is not allowed to work and is at risk of exploitation. We are urgently trying to raise funds to evacuate her and reunite her with her family in Canada, but this depends on the Canadian government speeding up her G5 sponsorship, which has been pending for months.
