Hi Everyone!!!
I am currently working on my Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. My professor sent my class an email that showed how USM was offering a study abroad program in London to tour historical museums, libraries, and archives and learn from the British librarians, archivists, and curators. I always wanted to go to Europe, but I thought I wouldn't be able to go because I would never be able to afford it. It was only two weeks, but it would count as 3 credit hours towards my degree and would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Even though I was nervous about affording the program, I applied, and a few weeks later, I found out I got accepted to the program! Even though I was so excited for the opportunity, I couldn't help but worry about how I would afford it.
I am asking for support to sponsor this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that would teach me so much and allow me to tour some of the oldest libraries and museums, and be able to go behind the scenes and learn from the source. The amount I am asking for covers everything except the airfare.
The program is a little over two weeks, and I would be leaving on January 1st and returning on the 17th. I will get to explore the rich culture of London and get to tour places like the Bodleian Library in Oxford, to the British Museum in the heart of London. I will be staying at a hotel in Central London, which is a great location for walking around and exploring.
I would truly appreciate any contributions to be able to learn in one of the most historic places in the world! Thank you!
