Hi and thank you for taking the time to read my story. Helping people has always been my passion. I have spent my career in compassionate care for others in a multitude of ways. Whether that's been direct care by being a companion and caregiver for the disabled, tending to the elderly in hospice, or building programs to help women get out of poverty. Caring for others is what I do.
As I've been walking more with God and growing in lay-ministry, I have felt a tug to do more. Two years ago, I felt the call to use my social services skills in a way that cares for people's souls. I have been pursuing my master's degree in pastoral care and counseling (and I will be done in October!!). My goal is to go back into the direct care of others, but this time as a hospice chaplain.
This is where I need your help! The last step before I can work in chaplaincy as a vocation is something called Clinical Pastoral Education. This is similar to rotations and hands-on training that nurses and other medical professionals receive. I have an open opportunity to do this! I need some sponsors!
Currently, my obstacles are:
- Reducing work hours to accommodate visiting patients/CPE class work
- Tuition
- I need a car! My family is a one-car family currently.
If this is something on your heart that you feel you can help me with, any and all of the above, know you are sowing into good ground.
