Splott Football Club is a local grassroots football club based in Splott, Cardiff: encompassing an accomplished Mens 1st team, a positive recruitment drive in place for a Reserve team and currently two successful junior teams in the U6's & U7's, with the hope of introducing an U11's in the near future.

The Club was established in 2019 by a close-knit group of friends from the local Splott community, who shared a passion for football and a vision of building something meaningful in the area. From the outset, the Club set out to blend competitive ambition with a strong sense of community spirit.

We have had five years of the most amazing and inspirational football to get us to where we currently sit, with a bond that is second to none...our aim going forward is to reach the Welsh league which, with our focus and commitment, can be achieved in the next two years by gaining promotion over the next two seasons.

Today, Splott FC is more than just a football club. It is a symbol of community, passion, and progress, representing what can be achieved when friendship, local talent and ambition come together.

Early Days – 2019/20

The Club’s formative period coincided with the global Covid-19 pandemic, which disrupted grassroots football across the UK. Despite the challenges, the group remained committed and laid the foundation for what would become one of Cardiff's most exciting amateur football stories.

First Competitive Season – 2020/21

League: Cardiff & District Division Three

Achievements: Champions (Unbeaten)

Once football resumed, Splott FC entered the Cardiff & District Division Three. We announced ourselves in spectacular fashion, going the entire Season unbeaten and securing the Title at the first time of asking.

Second Season - 2021/22

League: Cardiff & District Division Two

Achievements: Champions (Unbeaten);

G.D. Roberts Cup Winners

Building on our debut success, Splott FC stormed to another unbeaten League campaign, this time in Division Two. Our dominance extended to Cup competitions as well, lifting the G.D. Roberts Cup, our first piece of silverware outside the League.

Third Season – 2022/23

League: Cardiff & District Division One

Achievements: Champions;

City Supporters Cup Winners

The momentum continued into our third season, with Splott FC clinching yet another League title - this time in Division One. We also added the City Supporters Cup to our growing trophy cabinet, underlining our strength across both league and knockout formats.

Fourth Season – 2023/24

League: Cardiff & District Premier Division

Achievements: Champions (Unbeaten);

Promoted to South Wales Premier League

Splott FC reached the pinnacle of the Cardiff & District football pyramid in just four seasons, claiming the Premier Division title without losing a single match. Our unbeaten run and consistency earned us promotion to the South Wales Premier League, a significant milestone in the Club’s rapid rise.

Fifth Season - 2024/25

League: South Wales Premier League

Achievements: 3rd Place Finish in Debut Season

Splott FC took on our first challenge at the amateur football level with confidence, finishing an impressive 3rd in our debut South Wales Premier League season. Competing against more established Clubs, we held our own and cemented our reputation as one of the fastest-rising teams in Welsh grassroots football.

Club Ethos:

Our Club ethos is to promote inclusiveness, positivity & respect…not just within the Club and on the playing field but to project those values into the Community we live in. With the Junior teams set up, we are now moving towards the positive development of children in our Community, helping them to interact with other children they may not get the chance to interact with in everyday life, creating a safe and healthy environment for them to grow and build their characters, which in turn will help to support them throughout life as they mature into adulthood.

Our Mission:

It is our mission at the Club to provide affordable inclusive football opportunities, foster community engagement and support junior development both on and off the pitch.

Your donation will be an invaluable contribution towards the upcoming Season, as well as the chance to support a meaningful local Club who are looking to take the team forward and gain Promotion into the next League.

Donations will help fund essential expenses such as equipment; coaching; pitch hire and kit purchases, which amount to just over £5,000 a year for the Mens 1st Team alone and has, over previous years, been funded by coaches & family members, along with donations from some of our loyal supporters, all digging deep into their own pockets, their passion for the Club has given us the freedom to do what we do best…play football…their commitment has been our success.
