Spinsters - A Thesis Film

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Jean-Paul Jones and I am raising funds to produce my thesis film Spinsters and complete my degree requirements in the Film Directing Program at CalArts.

A little about me:

I worked most of my life as a K-12 music teacher and performer in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The pandemic allowed me to reshape my life and combine my vast musical experience with my vision as a film and stage director.

On top of attending film school, I currently sing with the All Saints Choir at All Saints Beverly Hills Episcopal Church, work as a projectionist with REDCAT and The Hammer Museum

Spinsters is the culmination of my attempt to represent musical form in a visual medium. It tells the story of four, unmarried, childless people in their 30s navigating the pressures of society by friends, family, work, and themselves. They all belong to the same church choir and and find fulfillment through their complex relationships with religion and music.

I would like to finish the film by March/April 2023. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
