As many of you know, my daughter Bayli was born  in November of 1995 with something referred to as VATER Syndrome. Among other issues that were fixed with surgical procedures at birth, she has suffered from severe scoliosis that is caused both by congenital defects in two vertebrae and also a lower compensatory curve as her body tries to stay aligned. Growing up she wore a Boston Brace for nearly 4 years to help keep her spine growing as strait as possible through puberty, and it worked very well. However over the past two years she has been struggling with pain and massive discomfort as her spine continues to bend and twist. After much research and numerous appointments with a neurosurgeon, it is now time to operate. Bayli will be having her spine fused from T2 all the way to L5. This is a major surgery and the recovery time is lengthy. The surgery will take place in Spokane, WA over two days on Sept. 12th and 13th, and I will be right there by her side.  Friends, family, community this is where we now need your help. Due to an unforeseen circumstance, Bayli is scheduled to lose her health insurance coverage through her father's employer on Aug. 31st. We are planning to pay for COBRA coverage to get her through this surgery and the recovery which we are told is approximately 1-year. The current goal is to raise at least $30,000 to pay for medical expenses that will be incurred out-of-pocket.
