Spinal Cord Injury Recovery for Juan Hernandez

Juan Hernández is a loving son, brother, amazing fiancé to my best friend Valeria Esponda, and a supportive and caring friend to many. Juan graduated from Barbara Goleman with the class of 2012 and is currently an FIU college student working on finishing his degree. On Sunday, January 3rd, 2021, Juan suffered an injury from a boat incident. The injury, which seemed to be minor at the time, resulted in a very serious C5 spinal injury. Juan was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently in intensive care receiving treatment.

We have faith that he will be able to fully recover but the road will be very challenging due to his type of injury. Juan will need patience, and a lot of love and support from the people around him. Luckily, Juan has amazing doctors working on making the best decisions for his recovery. Valeria, his fiancé, family and friends need all the support and prayers from our community to help them through this tough time. 
 
As you all can imagine, the circumstances place a huge financial burden on Juan and his family. Juan will be unable to work, and Valerie will have to give her full attention to Juan as his caretaker. They will incur many medical expenses as he is looking at a large amount of out of pocket costs. This leads me to the reason for the creation of this GoFundMe page. In efforts to help Juan, his fiancé and family avoid incurring debt from his medical cost I ask for your help. It’s going to be an emotional and long recovery process but with your help and donations we can help lighten the load for them.
