Spinal Cord Injury, help with Private Rehabilitation costs

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sophie. My nephew, Kieran is 24 years of age and he was in a major motorbike accident on Sunday 9th June 2024.

Kieran was traveling to a meeting with his friends along the Alton road, nobody knows what actually happened. Suspicion’s raise that a small animal could of ran out, it was a sunny day so he could of been dazzled by the sunshine or simply sneezed but we do know that Kieran is a safe rider and what ever happened that day it left him fighting for his life in Southampton General hospital within the Nero ICU.

Angels were simply watching over him that day because the doctor’s are amazed that he is pulling through this massive ordeal.

Kieran damaged his spinal cord, C6 & C7 which means he is paralysed from his neck down along with 2 fractures on his right arm, an open fracture on his left arm and a fractured jaw.

He also did damage to his internal organs (ruptured spleen, punctured lungs, broken ribs, internal bleeds and these are all healing nicely).

We were told that Kieran may not make it through so they were forced to put him in a full coma to allow for his body to repair.

Kieran caught a nasty infection which went straight to his lungs so this delayed his operations but I can confirm that his bones have now been fixed so he is recovering slowly.

Kieran is now awake, 5 weeks on but still being ventilated because he needs to build up his diaphragm.

His Dad has been bedside doing what he can as well as managing work. He is self employed which has meant working mornings then straight up to the hospital so as you can imagine this has been very hard on him.

His family and friends have also been by his side for extra support.

We have a long road to recovery and Kieran will need a lot of equipment to help with his day to day activities but ultimately we need support to raise funds to help Kieran attend a private centre, called Hoobs Rehabilitation. This came recommended by a top spinal consultant based on Kieran’s spinal injury to give him the best possible opportunity in life.

Please help us give kieran another shot in life, just in a different way.

Thank you and god bless you all for helping me and my family with Kieran’s recovery.

Lots of love from Kieran’s Dad, Gavin Cox and our family xx
