Spina Bifida Funds for Elliot

For those that do not know Elliot (my nephew) was born with Spina Bifida this past June. Elliot’s lesion level is L4-L5 and the form of Spina Bifida he has is called Myelomeningocele. Myelomeningocele is where the spinal cord fails to close and the nerves are left exposed. We know Elliot does not have feeling below his knees. Elliot also has the Chiari II Malformation and as a result has Hydrocephalus. Elliot has a shunt to ensure that the fluid is properly drained from his brain. Elliot spent 3 weeks in the nicu and has had 3 surgeries. He will have more surgeries in his future. He sees 4 different specialists and has physical therapy twice a week. He will eventually have occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Over the past couple of months, we have had friends, family, and others who have asked if there was any way they could help. One thing we do not often discuss openly is how expensive caring for a child with a disability and additional medical needs can be. Unfortunately, even with good health insurance, these costs well exceed 10k. If you know my sister at all, then you know she is not someone who asks for help, so I decided to create a gofundme to help her out as much as I can.
