Spider Monkey Orphans

Tax deductible
Over the past two months, 19 infant Mexican spider monkeys have been discovered and seized by federal agents in South Texas, mostly at border crossings, and placed in the care of our Animal Health Team.

In addition to providing ongoing care for over 1,500 mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish, the helpless infant monkeys have kept Zoo staff busy around the clock.

Caring for them is time-consuming and expensive. For this reason, the Gladys Porter Zoo seeking monetary donations to purchase additional incubators, build more outside enclosures, and continue providing quality care to the orphans.

We are also asking that you spread the word about how baby monkeys are obtained for the pet trade and the devastating ripple effect of a single spider monkey being pried away from its dead mom.
