UPDATE Feb. 24, 2026
PiccaSpice Development Update
We’ve recently reached an important milestone in the development of PiccaSpice.
Over the past phase, we produced 25 master samples using 3D printing, followed by 25 negative molds, and from those created 12 colored silicone prototype labels. These samples were brought to the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, where students tested both the silicone prototypes and the original masters.
The feedback we received was invaluable.
Key findings:
A firmer silicone (Shore A30 platinum) is needed to better preserve braille structure under stretch.
Stretching the label over spice lids can slightly flatten the braille, indicating the need for more robust braille geometry.
Larger braille proved significantly more legible — Garlic, Salt, and Chili were readable, while smaller braille on other labels was not.
Based on this real-world testing, we are now redesigning the product:
Increasing overall label size
Enlarging and strengthening braille geometry
Rebuilding new master models in CAD
The next phase will include:
New master prints
New molds
New silicone prototypes
A return to VSDB for another round of user testing
If successful, we plan to provide a full PiccaSpice set to support their Home Economics students, many of whom are already cooking and were enthusiastic about the concept.
What’s next
We are currently building our official website and preparing for a Kickstarter launch, where supporters will be able to reserve their PiccaSpice sets. Estimated delivery is approximately 3–6 months, with potential for earlier fulfillment depending on production scale and demand.
We also have an active GoFundMe campaign (currently 42% funded) supporting development and accessibility improvements.

UPDATE : Jan. 12, 2026
Hi again everyone!
I’m excited to share that after several months ( and more than a few hardships ) I’ve finally completed the PiccaSpice design. I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out, and I truly hope you will be too. Seeing this design finally completed makes all the setbacks worth it. Just scroll through the photos above to see the final Salt and Pepper. There are 22 MORE labels for the most common house hold spices I've created that are not shown. Can't show them all just yet as we really want to secure the patent first.
Throughout this journey, I’ve been balancing job searching, product development, and taking on odd jobs where I can, which hasn’t always been easy. On top of that, learning multiple 3D modeling and CAD systems and dealing with the occasional 3D printer issue has been a steep but rewarding learning curve. We can't forget the braille either. For me that was the most concise and time consuming portion. But I am more than happy to have permanently integrated it into the design.
I’m happy to say those challenges are behind me. A replacement printer part is on the way, and once it arrives, I’ll be moving directly into printing final pieces for mold creation.
We are still actively raising funds to secure a design patent, and any support beyond that will go directly into production as we prepare for an initial manufacturing run and a future Kickstarter launch.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in this project. If you’re able to share this campaign, it helps more than you know.
Sincerely,
Filippo
Hi!
I’m Filippo LoPiccolo, inventor and founder of PiccaSpice LLC . I created a simple but powerful system that helps you find your herbs and spices instantly even for the visually impared.
If you’ve ever stood in front of a cluttered cabinet muttering, “Where’s the paprika?” — this product is for you.
A practical, elegant solution: a spice labeling system that lets you spot your herbs and spices at a glance or a touch . No more digging (maybe a little) , overbuying, or cooking delays.
Now I’m asking for your support to take the next step: protecting this invention and launching it as a real business.
Why I’m Raising $7,500
I’m seeking startup funding to cover:
Legal Protections
$5,500 – Design Patent (includes all attorney fees)
$1,600 – Trademark Filing AND formation of LLC (includes legal support) -COMPLETED-
$200 - Website domain purchase and 3d rendering software - COMPLETED -
With your help, We’ll be able to move from concept to reality — and build something that improves everyday life for the visually impaired, the cooks, all parents, and spice lovers everywhere.
