Spenden für SchülerInnen in Old Fadama, Ghana

Worum geht es?

Wir sind eine Gruppe von Masterstudierenden des Campus für Biotechnologie und Nachhaltigkeit der Technischen Universität München (TUM) in Straubing und werden in wenigen Wochen im Rahmen eines Seminars für eine zweiwöchige Forschungsexkursion nach Ghana reisen. Schwerpunkt unserer Exkursion ist die Verwertung von Elektronikschrott in Accra. Neben unserer Forschung vor Ort sammeln wir in Kooperation mit der TU München und der NGO Holy Bakhita / City of God Accra Geldspenden für die Schulkinder und jugendlichen SchülerInnen der Schule in Old Fadama.

Die NGO Holy Bakhita, auch bekannt als “City of God” betreibt in Old Fadama tagsüber einen Kindergarten und abends eine Schule für junge Erwachsene und ist damit seit vielen Jahren eine zentrale Einrichtung für die Community in Old Fadama. Seit 2019 wurde das Bildungsangebot auch durch Computertraining ergänzt.

Was wird benötigt?

Nach Angaben der Organisation vor Ort wird neben Schulmaterialien und Schulmahlzeiten zur Verbesserung des Computertrainings eine Konferenzanlage benötigt. Mit dieser Konferenzanlage kann ermöglicht werden, dass LehrerInnen auch ortsunabhängig zugeschaltet werden.

Die Spenden werden von uns direkt an die Leitung der Schule übergeben, wenn wir diese Ende des Monats besuchen. Wenn noch Fragen offen sind, kontaktiert uns gern. Wir bedanken uns sehr für eure Unterstützung!

What is this about?

We are a group of master students from the campus of Sustainability and Biotechnology of the Technical University of Munich in Straubing. In a few weeks, we will travel for a two-week research excursion to Ghana. The focus of this research trip is the management of e-waste in Accra. In addition to our on-site research, we will collect donated goods and money for children and young adult students at the school in Old Fadama in cooperation with the TU Munich and the NGO Holy Bakhita / City of God Accra.

The NGO Holy Bakhita, also known as “City of God” operates a kindergarten as well as a school for young adults in the urban slum of Old Fadama. It has been a central and important institution for the community in Old Fadama for many years. Since 2019, ICT training has been added to the educational offerings of the school.

What is needed?

Besides school materials and school meals, according to our local NGO partner, a conference system is needed to improve the computer training. This conference system will enable teachers to connect remotely when necessary.
