Spencer Rooney

Hello, my name is Gina (Burnett) Hensley. Kellie Burrer and I have started a fundraiser for my cousin (and Kellies dear friend) Spencer.

As many of you know, Spencer was in a horrific ATV (side by side) accident Saturday June 10th. . His wife Jezzy and mom Gwen (both nurses), provided care at the scene, until Spencer was airlifted (in critical condition) to Mercy One hospital in Mason City Iowa.

Spencer was taken into an emergency surgery for internal injuries which were causing extensive internal bleeding. His neurosurgeon was standing by to repair his vertebrae fractures, decompress the spine and stabilize his spinal cord to give him a chance at a miracle, that being the ability to walk again.

After surviving the 7 hour surgery, he is now embarking on a very long, painful extensive and expensive recovery.

Once Spencer reaches certain medical milestones, he will be transferred to an Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Spinal Unit (out of state) . He will need to re-learn some skills that we all take for granted.

If anyone can make a full recovery it will be Spencer! His positive attitude, faith in God, competitive drive and support of friends and family will propel him forward, however, they could use help with medical costs, travel expenses and loss of income for the very long recovery journey.

So many miracles have already happened!

For local Iowa donations a “free will donation fund” has been set up at First Security bank in Rockford Iowa. Please note the donation is for Spencer or Jezzy Rooney.
