Hello hello hello.
I am Spencer AKA MINQ, a Sound Artist and DJ living, loving and creating in Berlin, Germany.
I am delighted to have been accepted into the Sound Studies and Sonic Arts Master's program at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) and I am raising funds to finance the 1st semester of this 3-year program!
(I am applying for funding for the following semesters).
A little about me:
Over the last years in Berlin, I have taken a deep dive into music production, sound design and sound art with help from courses at the community organization, Open Music Lab. I have also been facilitating a free mindfullness workshop called Sonic Utopias | Research Lab as part of my ongoing research and education surrounding sound-based minfulness practices. This is an environment that aims to create space for and center on the lived-experiences of Queer and Transgender Black, Brown, Indigenious and People of Color.

After my experience as autodidact sound artist and sonic mindfulness facilitator, the Sound Studies program at UdK feels like the appropriate next (big) step to take to develop myself as an artist, researcher and facilitator, in order to nourish and inspire collective meditation through sound and movement.

With the support of teachers, students and a community committed to learning, I am eager to expand my theoretical knowledge and technical skills, create movie scores, build large-scale interactive sound installations and make personal and professional connections. And through this expansion, I aspire to become a better pedagog to continue evolving Sonic Utopias and discover new ways to use sound as a tool for Mindfulness.

Sound Studies and Sonic Arts investigates, questions, analyses and shapes auditory cultures and practices. Our methods are scholarly and artistic, our field is the world of sound with all its conditions and implications. In a truly interdisciplinary program, we confront theory, technology, design, and artistic creation, so that students may engage in a multi-faceted discourse to develop their specific practices.
