Spencer Decker's Eagle Scout Project

Hello!

My name is Spencer Decker. I am a Life Scout with Troop 21 in Dickson City, PA. I have been in scouting since kindergarten, when I started as a Lion Scout with Cub Pack 21.

I am working towards the rank of Eagle Scout. Part of the Eagle Scout rank is a service project. I have decided to do my Eagle Scout Project to support Veterans Promise in Dickson City.

Veterans Promise is committed to assisting and advocating for Veterans and their families in obtaining needed services and support. They accomplish this through needs assessment, outreach, advocacy and resource linkage. In addition, they are committed to raising awareness for and aiding in the prevention of Veteran Suicide. Their target audience is all who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces.

My project has two components. The first is to make the outdoor space more functional and to be a place where veterans can gather. I will be cleaning up the area and adding gravel. I will also be adding tables, benches and flower planters. The second part of my project is to produce a promotional video for the organization by highlighting the veterans they have on the Wall of Heroes. The memorial honors veterans lost on the homefront and brings awareness to veteran suicide.

All monies raised will be used to purchase items for the outdoor space and televisions for the promotional video to be displayed indoors.

All funds will be sent directly to Veterans Promise. Veterans Promise will use any additional funds in support of its daily mission.
